Uses and Discovery
Zirconium is an element on the periodic table that has many medical uses. It is found in surgical equipment, and is in the treatment for poison ivy, which are medical tools used by doctors every day. Zirconium was discovered in 1787 by a German chemist named Martin Heinrich Klaproth. This man had discovered uranium and cerium as well, and had discovered these elements the same year as zirconium. Klaproth discovered zirconium while analyzing the composition of the mineral jargon.
